The original cover is iconic for its strong and emotive illustration, heavy inks, and minimalist color blocking. Miller's artistic approach during this period displays his noir inspiration through strong outlines, striking lighting, and emotive shading. This is set against a vivid yellow background, which heightens the tension. This cover fully embodies the gritty and intense comic book style of the 1980s.
